Since its inception, Thoma Engineering, Inc. has served over 50 architectural firms as their consultants in engineering. In addition, private corporations and public tax entities have been clients of the firm as well as individuals who have needed structural consultation. Since the spring of 2007, Thoma Engineering, Inc. is HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) certified.
The firm's capabilities include structural design for new buildings, structural surveys and reports, and structural repairs and restorations. Buildings include civic and community centers, Universities and public school buildings, hospitals, detention facilities, parking garages, religious and commercial facilities.
Thoma Engineering, Inc. has designed many specialized and unique structural facilities. These include Microwave Communication Exchange and Office Buildings in the Western Pacific Ocean area designed of masonry and concrete to withstand 200 mile per hour winds; Steel Water Tank structures designed and detailed for a Steel Tank Manufacturing Company; an analysis of safe operating configurations for modified Fork Lift Trucks; Pole Footing designs for utility companies and stadium lighting; analyses of the effect of Sound and Lighting Equipment loads as suspended by Rock Band Groups from the roof structure of the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum; several pedestrian bridges to span between buildings across street thoroughfares; foundations for fixed Construction Cranes at high rise construction sites; Trench Shoring designs for below grade construction, and numerous Surveys and Evaluations of existing buildings to determine the structural condition and/or need for repairs. The firm also has provided plans and contract administration for repairs of two Parking Structures damaged by salt, ice and inadequate drainage systems.
